Laughter Really Is Contagious

A photo of someone having a really good belly laugh

You know those times. When you laugh and laugh, and after a bit you’re not sure what cracked you up in the first place… but you’re still laughing and feeling good?

I love those times. Those times are when memories are made.

This week I said yes to dinner on a week night. I know, outrageous right?! We got together to celebrate a friend’s birthday.  It was low key, outside on a shaded patio, yummy food, just sitting around chatting about everything and nothing.  It was also planned last minute, and that usually feels extra special.

For me it was reminder that joy is best served simply.

Don’t get me wrong, I love an evening in my PJ’s catching up on my favourite shows.  There is a time for that too.  In the wise words of Oprah, here is what I know for sure – I never regret going out and connecting with my friends.

The evening was also a reminder that laughter really is the best medicine.

We laughed and laughed, about nothing and about everything.  I love that laughter is contagious…  it can start with something small and turn into every single thing being funny (perhaps not to the table next to us, but to us we were all hilarious).

Say yes to those last minute outings.  Warning: it may result in belly laughs and feelings of well-being.  🙂

I had the pleasure of spending time with Colleen O’Dea, Halifax Entrepreneur and Author of Curtains Are Open.  She is pictured in the photo above… in a big belly laugh session that quickly turned silly.  Good times.
